High-altitude training camp, Paudi Garhwal, Uttarakhand
Our Origin
It started with a single care package
In July 2024, our Chief Mentor Khem Rautela came across Sonam’s story online through a news report. Sonam, a young Indian woman athlete with immense potential but limited resources, had broken the under-21 national record in steeplechase. He didn’t have all the answers, but he knew he had to act.
Reaching out to Sonam’s coach, Sanjeev, Khem learned what Sonam and other athletes in Sanjeev’s group needed the most. What he discovered was both eye-opening and motivating: talented athletes striving to excel without access to even the most basic resources.
Determined to help, Khem turned to close friends and asked for their help. Together, they pooled their resources and shipped two care packages filled with shoes, running gear, and essential nutrition for a small group of Indian women athletes. That first effort became the beginning of a movement.
"Exactly one year later, on the anniversary of that first care package, the idea of Poshak was born."
Today we do more than send packages. We sponsor a year-round high-altitude training camp in Paudi Garhwal, so our athletes can train properly in the mountains all year.
